Simbang Gabi

We invite you to join us in a special Novena of Masses from 15-23 December 2022, celebrated at 18h30 every night in that period, (NB. 17th Dec: 17h30)  & (18th at Notre Dame: 19h00).  Known as ‘Simbang Gabi’ (meaning “Church-going at Night”), this is a much-loved Filipino custom that we are introducing at St John XXIII. Come, join our Filipino community in these celebrations! Mass will be celebrated in English but the music for the Mass will be in Tagalog and English. On our final night 23rd of December, there will be a sharing of Filipino foods in the parish hall with a glass of Processco!

Christmas Drive at St John XXIII Parish

The Project La Caravane de Solidarité operates a small foodbank for those on the margins and those who have been left very vulnerable since the beginning of the Pandemic. We will collect hats, scarfs, gloves and toiletries (shampoo, soap etc) for distribution. Everything that we are appealing for and times of drop-off can be found on enclosed poster advert “In Jesus, God himself became Emmanuel, God-with-us, the God who walks alongside us, who gets involved in our lives, in our homes, in the midst of our ‘pots and pans’, as St Teresa of Jesus liked to say.” Pope Francis

News from Turkana (Kenya)

We would like to appreciate the immense sacrifice and contribution you all continue to make towards giving life to the poor students through the sponsorship programme and our ‘first Sunday’ collection. The impact of the programmes goes beyond the now of the immediate students to their families and their future. Asante! ( Fr Livinus SPS ) Currently we have 30 students in 17 different schools and assists some other 68 students in various needs, a grand total of 98 students in secondary level education, please check  the full report from Fr Livinus, the St Patrick’s Missionary Society member, who is responsible for the various parishes that we support.

Stephen Ministry & Personal Development Training

Stephen Ministry is a listening ministry made up of trained lay care-givers.  Their role is to listen and care - not to give advice or counsel.  They provide free, quality, one-to-one Christian care including: crisis care, follow-up care, chronic care, preventative care and supportive care.  Stephen Ministers listen, understand, accept, and pray for you as you go through a struggle or life challenge.  In the Geneva region these life challenges include separation/divorce, depression, loss, loneliness and those with serious illness.  There are 20 topics covered by the course which are provided at the link below.   This year’s training will take place online using Zoom.
