Welcome to Blessed Pope John XXIII Parish Geneva. Our Parish is the English-speaking Catholic parish for the Geneva region and its environs.

Until March 2013 it was located in Petit-Saconnex at the Centre Jean XXIII which was its home since 1982. Despite our ever increasing numbers which was the reason for the move to our new location, we try and preserve a ‘family spirit’ in our very diverse, multi-national Parish. There are many opportunities for meeting and making friends at Pope John XXIII and for serving one other as well as the community at large. Our Parish is now located at the premises of St. Nicolas de Flue at  57 RUE DE MONTBRILLANT,1202 GENEVA

May you experience a sincere and warm welcome into our parish family and, most of all, experience in our midst the living presence of Jesus Christ.

Reason for the Move to Montbrillant

Established at John XXIII Centre in the Petit Saconnex locality of Geneva since 1982, our Parish has been blessed with continuous growth so that today we number some 2000+ households. The downside of this growth has meant overcrowding at our main Masses and a severe lack of space in which to hold our Catechism classes, meetings and other activities during the week.

A feasibility study, undertaken in 2007/2008, was presented to the Parish containing a number of options and in January 2009 the Parish General Assembly unanimously accepted a recommendation to swap premises with our francophone sister Parish of St. Nicolas de Flue at Montbrillant which, by contrast, was contracting in numbers. While providing us with ample space for our Masses, the parish house premises include a large basement area (formerly a bomb shelter) which was ideally suited for conversion into classrooms / meeting rooms that we believe now fully meet our needs.

Our move to St Nicolas de Flue has presented us with an ideal opportunity to create facilities that will help accomplish the goals set out in our Vision 2013 project: to fully Celebrate our Faith, Teach our Faith and Live our Faith. After much consultation and prayer, we decided in 2010, to undertake a CHF 5 Million project to renovate the Parish Centre and Church of St. Nicolas de Flue. Construction and renovation work commenced in January 2012 and was completed in February 2013.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
Author and inspirer of all things holy, Hear our prayers for our new parish home at St. Nicolas de Flue. Be with us, Lord; watch over our efforts and direct our energies. Bless our planners and builders as they now strive to help us realize our vision to more fully teach, celebrate and live our faith. Send forth your Spirit that we may humbly be guided by your Divine Will. Touch our hearts so that we, together, may raise up a house of God for the inspiration and renewal of all your faithful.May our Parish patrons, Blessed John XXIII and St. Nicolas de Flue, guide us as we move forward. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us. St. Joseph, pray for us.
